Teen and Tween Troubles
Your teen may appear to have it all together on the outside, but underneath that she is anxious or overwhelmed. She struggles to manage a constant barrage of activities, responsibilities and social media during a developmental period already heavy with and change and challenges. She is filled with self-criticism, overthinking, and constant fear of failure. It seems she feels she is not enough.
You might notice this in your teen’s intense moods and “meltdowns.” Or perhaps it shows up as rebellion and refusing to adhere to established rules, or it could be isolating herself from the things and people that used to be important to her. You have been trying your best to support her, but most the time it feels that nothing you do is right. It leaves you uncertain about where to turn next.

In my work with teens and tweens, I help them to overcome the traps of perfectionism, heal from traumatic experiences and nurture self-love and healthier relationships. I support your family in communicating more effectively and functioning more successfully as a whole. These years are a critical time for development and learning. The choices made in the tween and teen years can significantly define future life possibilities and opportunities down the road.
Therapy can be very effective in helping tweens and teens develop more positive relationships with parents and peers, succeed in school, manage their stress effectively, avoid risky behaviors and learn to make good decisions without outside help. I work with teens and tweens to not only resolve current issues in their lives, but also put them on a course that creates success and avoids potential pitfalls. The goal is to provide them with the tools they need to maintain a positive attitude and employ successful coping skills for years to come.
